[ That-clause & used to~~融入英語歌曲之應用]

課本剛好有一課在教that子句及used to的句型, 配合I believe I can fly的英語歌曲, 給學生練習聽說讀寫的機會。

Step 1:

給學生先看Youtube上的MV, 先給學生看原版MV,請他們將學習單 (請按我)第一部分歌詞填空完成, 接著播放卡拉OK版本, 只要在Youtube打上歌曲名稱,加上karaoke, 便可以找到很多類似的影片,如果不要有人聲唱歌的話, 可以在歌名後加上karaoke, 再加上instrumental, 就能找到只有音樂的伴唱帶了喔! 感覺就像在KTV!

Step 2:

教完課本的名詞子句及used to的句型後, 學習單第二部分Questions如果有時間可以帶著學生寫,不然就可以讓他們回家自己完成

Step 3:
給學生
(分三大組)10~20分鐘討論第三部分:我是作曲家(副歌改編),請同學加上動作與台詞,最後各組上台表演!此時老師需走下去協助孩子們喔!


Reflection

1.      學生玩得很開心!也能夠當當作曲家!此時要營造團隊合作,讓大家都投入在活動中, 所以老師的引導變得很重要, 在同學討論時, 要不斷來回穿梭, 給予協助與指導喔!

2.      看著學生日益進步的感覺真的很棒!可以上台表演、也可以學到寫作,又可以培養團隊合作與默契,心裡真的很開心呢

[Reflection]
      Those students are really excellent. They only spent 20 minutes creating their lyrics and doing the rehearsal of singing their songs. Although they were a little shy, I still think that they really did an excellent job. Students can be inspired by teachers. They just need some space to think and do! 
     
    As for the mini-books, they only spent less than 20 minutes finishing their sentences and drawing. I found that stickmen were very easy and popular to be drawn in their mini-books. Those students are really excellent!

1. Name of the activity

           Weather Forecast 


2. Description

¨ Draft First is written by students and then revised by the teacher. 

¨ Students revise their first draft of weather forecast and Draft 2 is checked out by the teacher.

¨ Students are told to bring and use any props and posters which can be used during their weather forecast and they are also given some time to practice their forecast.

¨ Demonstration time is given to students to improve their speaking abilities.

         ¨ Vocabulary which can be mainly taught or pay attentioned to

             ☼ Relevant words about weather, inclucind temperature description, adjectives, etc.)

       ☼ Words about direction  

¨ Grammar which can be used or focused on in this activity

        ☼ The difficulties of the sentence patterns used in the speech can be modified according to the language levels of students.

¨ Skills that can be built through the activity

         ☼ Linguistic Intelligence, including speaking as well as writing can be polished and improved.   

         ☼ Spatial Intelligence that is used to describe the map of a region or the route of typhoon can also be made use of in the speech of their weather forecast.

Information gap是我用過在英語課堂上好用, 簡單, 又有趣的小活動, 我結合了How much is it?詢問物品價錢的文法教學及口語練習, 透過溝通式教學法的information gap, 來強化學生的文法概念與運用, 如果要說到缺點, 就是老師事先要花不少時間製作A, B版的學習單(因為要兩個人一組),要互相詢問對方彼此手中學習單上所缺的物品之價錢, 因為有訊息上的gap, 便有了溝通的功能, 所以在溝通式教學法中相當好用的活動概念...

  • Practice speaking relative clauses.

[Sentence pattern]
先      行       詞    +   (受格關係代名詞 )       +        S                   + V
an antecedent  +(who/which/that)    + I/you/he/she   + V(s/es)

[Steps] 
(6-8 students in a group)
  1. The frist student in each group standing in a row in front of the class needs to say a noun as the antecedent.
  2. The second student has to say a relative clause with the subject I and a verb in the simple present tense. After saying the relative clause, the second student has to think of another antecedent for the next student to connect with. 
  3. The third student has to say  a relative clause with the subject You and a verb in the simple present tense. After saying the relative clause, the third student has to think of another antecedent for the fourth student to connect with. 
  4. The fourth student has to say  a relative clause with the subject He/She and a verb(+s/es/ies) in the simple present tense. After saying the relative clause, the fourth student has to think of another antecedent for the fifth student to connect with. 
  5. The activity goes on till the last student.

每次在教到某些動詞後接to Vr, 某些動詞後接V-ing, 學生總是會混淆, 所以幫助孩子們更熟悉這樣用法便顯得更加重要, 於是, 我想到了可以用撲克牌的心臟病遊戲來改成學英文的小遊戲, 讓學生從遊戲中加深此文法概念!

[Pattern]
  1.  Verb + to Vr: ask, want, tell, decide, need, love, like, hate...
  2.  Verb + Ving : finish, mind, spend, practice, enjoy, avoid, keep (FM SPEAK) , love, like, hate... (此時需提醒學生love, like, hate後面可接to Vr和Ving)
[Teaching steps]

1. 我習慣先教完課本的句型與練習後, 再來個小遊戲, 以強化學生的文法概念, 通常是在課堂時間後半部進行, 孩子們還會玩到下課, 玩得很high, 最後再練外給學生額外的練習題, 當回家作業

2. 首先, 挑出該課所教的哪些動詞後加to Vr, 那些動詞後加Ving, 大約十二個左右, 用word製作表格方式, 大約一頁設計表格(4*3), 把這十二的動詞打進去格子裡, 每組要印兩張(印越多張, 當然學生練習的機會就變多), 一共會有二十四個動詞, 如下學習單(可點入slideshare登入後下載), 再印出來, 沿著格子剪成一張張小卡, 每組就會有二十四張小卡, 也可以用廢紙製作, 請學生寫也可以

3. 將班上同學分成約五組, 每組約5-6人, 當然老師可以做多一點卡片, 讓每組人數下降至3-4人最為理想,這樣每個同學的練習機會可以變多一點


 4. 每組都拿到一副卡片後, 老師開始講解規則, 先解釋撲克牌玩心臟病的規則
     @ 組長將牌洗一洗, 平均分配給組員,此時大家都不能看牌的內容,  
     @ 開始玩時, 第一個人口中念數字1, 丟出來的牌剛好是1時, 大家就要去拍牌, 
     @ 如果丟出來的牌的數字, 和念的人說出來的數字不一樣時, 就不能拍牌, 
     @ 最後拍到牌的人, 就必須把桌面上所有的牌拿去, 最後手上牌最多的人, 就是最輸的
5. 接著, 老師再告訴學生, 英文文法小活動的玩法
    @ 此時的撲克牌上會出現enjoy, ask, decide, want, practice...等的動詞, 
    @ 組員口中要念的改成to Vr 和Ving, 
    @ 第一個人念to Vr, 第二個人念Ving, 第三個人念to Vr, 第四個人念 Ving, 依序念下去, 
    @ 當組員念to Vr, 若丟出來的牌上動詞是 ask, 大家就要拍牌, 
    @ 接下來的組員念Ving, 若丟出來的牌上動詞是 decide, 大家就不可以拍牌 , 就這樣玩下去~~
        (通常一開始一定會手忙腳亂,不過後來學生自己會要求再玩好幾次~~~)
       
6. 老師的工作
     @ 再解釋完規則, 示範完後, 就可以到處走動, 到各組去和同學一起玩, 
     @ 老師可以跟著拍, 通常學生都以為老師拍的就是對的, 所以我都會嚇嚇學生,
         還會有可能騙到學生拍到不該拍的牌
     @玩了幾輪後, 學生就會把哪些動詞後加ving那些動詞後加to Vr弄清楚啦~

7. 最後, 基本的練習還是不可少, 如果有時間課堂上做, 就在課堂上再複習一次, 如果沒有的話, 就給她當作回家作業也可行, 這網站Englishpage.com有很多不定詞與動名詞的練習題可供使用, 大家不訪參考看看!

教過去式的小活動

感謝Leah Wang老師在英語教室俱樂部分享此活動
自己試做一次,並改編一小部分,學生反應很不錯,而且哄堂大笑,非常精采喔!!!

步驟一:發給每一個學生四張小紙片,第一張小紙片寫上自己的名字,
          第二張小紙片寫上用過去式寫出一個動作,第三張寫上 with somebody(可以是校長、老師、 同學、明星....),第四張寫上地點和時間(提醒學生要寫搭配過去式時間)

步驟二:解釋玩法及笑點創意:全部人寫完後,會將四張小紙片都收齊成四疊小紙片,請四位同學各站在前面一疊小紙片前,每一位同學隨機從四疊小紙片中各抽一張,然後將紙片上的英文唸出,變成一句完整的英文句子。因此同學可以發揮創意,設計好笑的場景。

步驟三: 可以請同學選十句最喜歡的句子寫下,或者請一位同學將句子寫在黑板上,和學生討論是否句子的過去式使用正確與否?

發現現在的學生閱讀與理解的能力下滑到令人噴飯的程度
閱讀與理解能力是學習的關鍵
如果這兩樣不好
會造成老師教的很辛苦,學生也學的很痛苦
現在我們能做的事是
盡力教學及默默等待學生的成長

這次要和大家分享被動語態的教學活動
(參考翰林版第五冊第四課)
(先前要先講解過如何寫被動語態的基本句型)

步驟一:將全班分成四到五人一組

步驟二:每一組想六名詞

步驟三:每一組派兩位同學將六個名詞寫在黑板上
         黑板中間畫一條線一邊寫三個

步驟四:請每組根據黑板上的字造被動語態的句子
         (鼓勵學生發揮創意 )
例如: The ice cream was eaten by my sister.

步驟五:將各組的句子收回
         並剪貼成b4大小
         影印每人一張

          (如果句子的創意很有爭議,可以請寫的組別解釋
            再請全班表決,學生會很有反應)
          此時老師可以鼓勵學生抓別組的錯誤
          並思考如何將被動態的句子寫對

Reflection
覺得孩子們真的太有創意了, 在每一堂課的引導下, 孩子都必須不斷在討論, 互助中學習與成長, 上課真的一課不得閒,我相信他們應該學的很扎實,老師設計活動及改學習單要花很多時間, 不過, 能跟114的孩子們一同學習, 真的很開心...

Teacher Fortuna這是要分享的是在一年級下學期最後一課通常會教be動詞的過去式was/were, 所設計的教學小活動, 學生還蠻喜歡的~

[Past v.s. Present]

在教過去式be動詞was/were時, 我請孩子們帶自己小時候的照片到學校來, 以便活動的進行~

[Steps]
  1. 老師在黑板畫上自己過去和現在的圖片, 並用英文解釋, 套用句型, 並寫在黑板上給學生看~
        

  2. 發下用過的答案卡, 利用背面, 請孩子們也畫上自己過去與現在的圖片, 根據老師提供的句型, 請孩子們寫下過去和現在的差別~藉此訓練孩子們寫作能力~
    












  3. 最後要拿著自己小時候相片及畫好的比較圖, 分享給三位同學聽, 並請那三位同學在圖片下方簽名~以訓練孩子們口說與聽力~



  4. 最後再將本課對話設計成學習單~讓孩子們先找文章中答案~在將文章將重點整理成自己的心智圖~

Part One : INFORMATION GAP
Teacher Fortuna今天要上What's the weather like/How's the weather in PLACE in SEASON?的句型, 想讓他們練習一下口語, 就想到 information gap最好用啦~又可以讓學生練聽力和口說, 也可以練拼字與讓他們一展畫畫長才, 時間也不會佔太久, 大概10-15分鐘就能完成啦~

接著, 讓學生報數one, two, one, two.....等全班念完, 28個人共有19pairs, 請念One的人到前面拿information A學習單, 念Two的人, 接著到前面拿information B, information A與B不能讓對方看到彼此學習單

Find your partner
然後, 讓one去找two,隨意配成一對, 便開始做information gap的活動啦!
A的人先發問, 學習單中1-3空格, 要用What's the weather like in Place in Season?問, 4-6格要用How's the weather in Place in Season,  等B的同學回答後, 將聽到的天氣劃出並寫出英語單字,如A不會拼字, 可向B問How to spell it? B再告訴A答案

各組看完故事後, 彼此對完各自寫下物品的順序後, 由組長開始重述故事, If you give a mouse a cookie, 組長右手邊的同學要站起來說He will ask for a glass of milk. If you give a mouse a glass of milk, 第三個同學要根據看完影片後寫下的物品, 站起來依物品出現在故事中的順序說He will ask for ........ If you give a mouse ....., 再換第四個同學接下去說, 以此類推, 把所有物品依序說出後,直到故事結束

          上完課本課文後, 課後衍伸活動讓孩子兩人一組, 一個當訪問者, 一個當受訪者(設想自己為一個流行歌手),訪問者要問四個問題, 其中的問題必須包括問流行歌手的未來計畫, 並將訪問過程內容都要寫下來, 並繳交訪問內容的錄音檔

Teacher Fortuna這次教到感官動詞, 課文提到地震, 所以就上網找到這篇文章, 及影片, 意外發現影片的講稿是從這篇文章擷取下來的, 所以就讓我拿來當閱讀與聽力的教材

首先把這篇文章印給學生, 請學生上周末回家查單字, 今天再帶孩子大約看過文章, 讓孩子對此篇文章有大概認識, 這樣先給他們自己查單字, 然後上課時我再上一次就讀了兩次文章

     
    接著, 在課堂上放此影片 給孩子們看,
    

     但是今天放影片的時候, 孩子們一直注意到影片人物很搞笑, 整場笑到尾
     (有孩子說很像樂高積木)

     所以當下立刻決定~~再播一次~~~放一小段, 就停一段, 問孩子們這段影片是在文章中哪一段, 由 每一組一個人負責舉手搶答, 搶答正確的, 該組加分, 每個人CP值不同, 所以如果是由CP值10的人舉手回答(組員可幫忙), 該組加10分, 如果 CP值20的人舉手回答, 該組加20分

     那CP值如何規定呢? 全班共用段考英語成績做S型分5組, 每組6人, 有一組只有5人, 由我規定成績最弱的CP值20分, 次弱的15分, 剩下的都10分, 目的就是要鼓勵較強的組員教較弱的組員, 也同時鼓勵英文弱的同學回答, 得分呢?則是列為該組成績, 每個月統計一次, 總分最高的組有小獎勵

     最後, 將影片中擷取六個畫面, 請學生回家利用感官動詞來看圖造句, 兩天後交。(期待他們的造句。)

    


    這樣就花了一節課, 當複習此課的課外延伸聽力與閱讀活動, 最後再給他們今天回家作業, 是網路上對於earthquake的問與答的相關文章, 回家查學習單上的八個單字的中文,

     因為想讓孩子們練習看英文解釋, 所以設計了此學習單的練習, 只純粹帶孩子們閱讀, 對孩子來說, 這樣的作業負擔量也不會太重 

[心得]
    這次的閱讀和聽力對孩子們來有點難, 但卻是和他們生活結合的, 也期望除了英語教學外, 結合課本任他們與生活經驗可以做連結
